Montevideo

Montevideo, the capital, is the largest city in the country with a population of one and a half million. There’s everything to be found in it from old theatres and a prestigious opera house, museums, beautiful green areas and parks to modern shopping centres and highly reputed golf courses. Cultural life includes tango –the famous “La Cumparsita” a sort of national anthem- and the longest carnival in the world, with “candombe” and “murga”.
